The Twelve “Musical” Days of Christmas

The Twelve “Musical” Days of Christmas

For centuries, the festive carol The Twelve Days of Christmas has captured the imagination of listeners with its whimsical gifts and joyful countdown to the holiday. Inspired by this timeless tradition, Premier Park & Play presents The Twelve Musical Days of Christmas, a playful exploration of outdoor musical instruments.

Each day introduces a new musical element that invites children to experiment, collaborate and discover the wonders of sound. Like the legendary song, these twelve days build upon one another, culminating in a lively, shared celebration of music, joy and imagination.

On the first day of Christmas Premier Park & Play gave to me, A COMPOSER to start the symphony!

The Composer by Grounds for Play is the perfect instrument to kick off the holiday celebration.  This large, elegant set of chimes sets the stage for the entire playground orchestra, embodying the idea of a single note beginning the masterpiece.  Designed for ages 2-12 years, it can be played from both sides, offering dozens of melodic combinations that inspire creativity, coordination and the joy of making music together.

On the second day of Christmas Premier Park & Play gave to me, TWO SANSA-RIMBAS and a Composer to start the symphony!

An ingenious blend of a thumb piano and the marimba, the Playmart Sansa-
Rimba instrument is tuned to a diatonic scale spanning two full octaves. Its name draws from the African “Sansa,” a small, hand-size piano with tuned metal tines that produce soft, bell-like tones, and the “Rimba,” a percussion instrument played with mallets.

On the third day of Christmas Premier Park & Play gave to me, THREE BUG-BEATS, two Sansa-Rimbas, and a Composer to start the symphony!

Nature of Early Play’s ladybug-shaped Bug-Beats feature three unpitched percussive instruments – perfect for a trio of children to enjoy rhythm together.  Each bug allows players to tap, bang or scrape the mallet along the wing notches, producing a playful ratchet sound that adds a fun percussive layer to the ensemble.

On the fourth day of Christmas Premier Park & Play gave to me, FOUR QUAD DRUM TABLES, three Bug-Beats, two Sansa-Rimbas, and a Composer to start the symphony!

With four distinct drum tables arranged in a square, the Quad Drum Table invites a band of four to gather round and lay down a solid beat together.

On the fifth day of Christmas, Premier Park & Play gave to me, FIVE MELODY BEES!

Four Quad Tables, three Bug-Beats, two Sansa-Rimbas, and a Composer to start the symphony!

Just like the hum of the hive, each whimsical, bee-shaped chime resonates with a clear,  sustaining tone – pure auditory perfection.  The Melody Bees by Free Notes Harmony produce five captivating primary notes, tuned to the pentatonic scale.  Designed at accessible heights for children of all abilities, each bee invites young musicians to strike its rounded body and join “the swarm” in a joyful buzz of music and movement.

On the sixth day of Christmas, Premier Park & Play gave to me, SIX LIBERTY BELLS five Melody Bees!  Four Quad Tables, three Bug-Beats, two Sansa-Rimbas, and a Composer to start the symphony!

Children won’t be able to resist tapping out notes on this cluster of six colorful and whimsical Playmart Liberty Bells tuned to the pentatonic C-Major scale.

A cadence of cheerful noise, the bright powder coated bells resemble nature’s wild mushrooms and sit atop curvy stainless stems.

On the seventh day of Christmas, Premier Park & Play gave to me, SEVEN STEPPING STONES, six Liberty Bells, five Melody Bees!  Four Quad Tables, three Bug-Beats, two Sansa-Rimbas, and a Composer to start the symphony!

Nature of Early Play’s rainbow-colored, durable stepping stones are a favorite for all ages and abilities.  Each ADA-inclusive stone plays a different chord when stepped on, jumped on or rolled across.  Made of heavy duty recycled materials, the musical stones are designed to withstand weather and last for years to come.

On the eighth day of Christmas, Premier Park & Play gave to me, EIGHT Butterflies, seven Stepping Stones, six Liberty Bells, five Melody Bees!  Four Quad Tables, three Bug-Beats, two Sansa-Rimbas, and a Composer to start the symphony!

Our Butterfly musical instruments from Superior Recreation Products are great individually or as a set. Choose from four different Butterflies: indigo, orange, turquoise, and yellow.

On the ninth day of Christmas, Premier Park & Play gave to me; NINE Lady Bug Drums, eight Butterflies, seven Stepping Stones, six Liberty Bells, five Melody Bees!  Four Quad Tables, three Bug-Beats, two Sansa-Rimbas, and a Composer to start the symphony!

The Lady Bug Drum from Grounds for Play encourages children to explore sound and music and is a great addition to your outdoor music area. With its colorful, ladybug-themed design, it’ll fit right into any space and will create a colony of cute lady bug musicians.

On the ninth day of Christmas, Premier Park & Play gave to me; TEN Lilypad Cymbals, nine Lady Bug Drums,  eight Butterflies, seven Stepping Stones, six Liberty Bells, five Melody Bees!  Four Quad Tables, three Bug-Beats, two Sansa-Rimbas, and a Composer to start the symphony!

The Lilypad Cymbals provide a fun musical experience for children of all ages and abilities. This ADA-accessible playground instrument features 10 disks in a layered pattern that creates a bell sound when struck. Our Lilypad musical design is a great set of kid’s cymbals for outdoor use, which are ideal for school, park, and church playground spaces.

On the eleventh day of Christmas, Premier Park & Play gave to me, ELEVEN GRIFFIN metallophones, ten lilypad cymbals, nine lady bug drums, eight Butterflies, seven Stepping Stones, six Liberty Bells, five Melody Bees!  Four Quad Tables, three Bug-Beats, two Sansa-Rimbas, and a Composer to start the symphony!

The Griffin is a metallophone with 11 anodized aluminum chimes that produce warm, full and rich tones.  Tuned to the C Major pentatonic scale, each note rings clearly for up to five seconds, ensuring harmonious melodies with every strike – there are truly no wrong notes!  Often called a “painting with sound,” the Griffin invites young children to explore rhythm and collaboration, letting them become instant Maestros as they create immersive music together.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, Premier Park & Play gave to me, TWELVE TENOR TREES (perfectly timed with christmas!), eleven Griffin metallophones, ten lilypad cymbals, nine Ladybug Drums Ensembles, eight butterflies, seven Stepping Stones, six Liberty Bells, five Melody Bees!  Four Quad Tables, three Bug-Beats, two Sansa-Rimbas, and a Composer to start the symphony!

Grounds for Play’s Tenor Tree is where visual beauty brilliantly combines with musical exploration.  This nature-inspired instrument boasts 12 rich, warm notes in C-major, spread across its three surfaces.

A thunderous roar of applause!  An exhilarating journey from a single note to a full symphony is complete, and now the greatest performance awaits.  At a musically-inspired, STEM-based playground, children become composers, create ensembles that form friendships, and every note is a shared celebration of sound.  To thank our mini-composers we gift them with some flowers (that are also drums!) – meet the Petal Drum!.

Partner with the experts at Premier Park & Play to create a timeless playground that sings – a space where music, motion and imagination create a masterpiece of play.
